"Tower Garden" App Redesign Process

This project was a team effort to design an app for "Tower Garden", a company that sells hydroponic devices. We wanted to simplify the process of using a tower garden and allow users to have access to all functionalities at the tips of their fingers. We designed the app to be as cohesive and user-friendly as possible.

Research

Problem to Address: Users of Tower Garden find it difficult and complicated to care for their hydroponic device.

Research Steps:

  • Identify Problem and Create Possible Solution

    • Decided to create an app that was easy and simple to use for Tower Garden customers

  • Interviews

    • We interviewed three different people with a set of questions created to help gauge the user needs and questions

    • Drew behavioral insights from interviews to help direct design process

  • User Persona

    • We created a User Persona to represent the "average user" of our product

Design

Design Steps:

  • Identify elements to include in app

    • We used our user persona and takeaways from the interviews to create a roadmap of features our app would include

    • Decided that the app should look clean, simple, sleek, and welcoming

  • Low-Fidelity Wireframes

    • Created sketches of how we wanted the website to look

    • Kept text boxes and sections round and inoffensive

    • Kept text fairly large and spread out to keep that flowy feel

  • High-Fidelity Wireframes

    • Created high fidelity versions of wireframes using figma.

    • Used a basic, muted color scheme with greens and beiges to help open the screen space

Prototyping

Prototyping Steps:

  • Take wireframes and bring them to life

    • We used Figma to create a loop a user would take through the application
